About LHON

rainbow-eye-2-eyes-14801295-1024-768Lebers Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON) is a rare mitochondrial disease that causes sudden central vision loss. It starts with a small blurry and/or cloudy spot in one eye. It then affects the other eye within a matter of weeks or months. The vision loss is so severe, you become legally blind. LHON knows no age, gender, lifestyle, or culture. Although many doctors, scientists, and some large pharmaceutical companies are working hard to understand all aspects of LHON and run clinical trials. Because Unfortunately, there is no treatment or cure available at this time.
